My Story
"God gave me a gift to make GOOD MUSIC...gave me a gift to reach people through my music. I feel like he wants me to do so much more with my gift." - Dvonn
Dvonn, born in Richmond, Va., began writing poetry in the 9th grade. Poetry, initially, was a means to vent frustrations; but then one day he set one of his poems to instrumental music, and, thus, began his music career. Adopting the name, D.Riddle, he continued to develop the talent for songwriting and this, eventually, led to being featured on the songs "Get On" and "'Til Da Mornin'" with the group Black Collar, on their mixtape. The year 2007 marked the release of his first mixtape entitled "Undiscovered Jewelz." He would, later, team-up with friend and former schoolmate, Antoine Oliver (A.O. aka The Ziplock Man), to form the group Y.B.E. Boyz (Young Black Entrepreneurs) and release the mixtape "Love It or Hate It."
The move from the internet to television would begin, in 2013, as the music video for the song "Just Another Day" would spend 17 weeks airing on Virginia-based program "BME Presents." With The show (BME Presents) having a viewership of approximately 10,000 viewers per week, "Just Another Day" has potentially reached about 170,000 viewers throughout the cities of Richmond, Roanoke, Hampton Roads, Greensboro, and Charlotte, in addition to the over 6,680 combined internet views. The song and video have, also, captured an additional Silver Song Award and Bronze Video Award from beat100.com. His presence on television would continue, in 2014, as the music video for the song, "Virginia Anthem," appeared on episodes 8-11 of "BME Presents" season 4.

After stepping away from rappin', for a few years, Dvonn decided to return and give music one more shot. With a new flow and a new career outlook, in 2011 he established an independent label named One Shot Records; releasing the mixtape "Inside Look." It represents the first official release under the One Shot Records label; containing a couple of tracks that garnered particular attention. The song "Virginia Anthem" led to a popular music video resulting in the single receiving radio airplay across the Charlottesville, Va. area. Later, the title track, "Inside Look," would go on to receive a Silver Song Award from beat100.com, for a well written original song.

By 2015 the rapper had married and become father of four children. The poetic & gritty rapper, known as D.Riddle, who once talked about the street life he was living was no longer living that life. After realizing his kids were not only his biggest fans, but were also quoting his songs word for word, he decided he had to change the message in his music. He rededicated his life to Christ and began to change one day at a time starting with switching his name from D.Riddle to Dvonn; reflecting the name given to him at birth, “Devonne.”
Dvonn would usher the world into the New Year with the 2018 release of his first single entitled “Change.” This year will also bring the release his first official album entitled “My Testimony.” You can rest assured that, in the future, audiences can look forward to seeing more from Dvonn; as his achievements and presence in the Hip Hop Community continue.
